Athlete of the Week: Caroline Stauffer

Ephrata Girls Basketball's Caroline Stauffer is our Athlete of the Week!

Ephrata freshman Caroline Stauffer has been impressing hoops fans all year, but has really stepped up her game in the last week or so.

8 days ago against Solanco she had fifteen points. The night after that? 11 points against Warwick, and then 20 points on Wednesday night to lead the Lady Mounts past Elizabethtown.

She also drained 4 three pointers in that game.

Heading into play tonight, Stauffer actually leads her team in scoring for the season with 228 points; although it's just by a mere 7 points over Junior Kelly Liebl.

But for a freshman, those are incredibly impressive numbers!

Athlete of the Week: Ben Swarr

Garden Spot wrestler Ben Swarr is our Athlete of the Week!

Swarr pinned Central Dauphin's Hunter Nielson at the Hecker Duals over the weekend, breaking the Garden Spot record of 123 individual wins.

That record was held by two men: Jeff Witwer, who ended his time with the Spartans in 1989, and Nick Cook, who graduated last year.

After yet another pin against Elizabethtown Monday night, Swarr's win total stands at 127, with plenty of chances for more.

Garden Spot has clinched at least a share of the section 2 title, but wrestles CV later tonight. With a win, they will become the outright champion! A loss would cause another three-way tie between the Spartans, CV and Manheim Central.

Swarr will also have a chance to defend his first ever L-L league title this weekend at the L-L championships!

We wish him all the best!

We talked a lot about Walsh prior to the season, but it was for good reason!

He's come out of the gates as a bigtime threat, throwing down dunks and draining three pointers on his way to a 17.8 point per game average.

His dunk against Northern Lebanon also won our most recent Top 5 play of the week voting!

On Tuesday night the Barons engineered a comeback against Lancaster Mennonite after being down by 13 points, notching win number eight in a row.

We'll see if they can make it nine straight tomorrow night against Pequea Valley!
