[VIDEO] Winter Sports Previews 2012: Cocalico Boys Basketball

We soar into Denver to spend some time with the Cocalico boys hoops squad.

Although the team may lack varsity experience, the team's chemistry and willingness to learn may just carry them through the season.

Includes interviews with head coach Travis Wealand and seniors Brock Gosling and Oliver Denlinger.

Roman Clay Commits To Kent State

The Lancaster Catholic Crusader will continue his football career as a Golden Flash at Kent State.

Roman Clay will be heading to the Mid-American Conference, after announcing tonight he has accepted a scholarship to Kent State.

He chose the Golden Flashes over the University of Delaware.

Kent State is ranked 17th in the nation - losing 44 -37 to Northern Illinois for the MAC championship in double overtime on Friday night .

Clay was an all-state selection at running back as he helped Catholic win the PIAA AA state championship last season.

He finished his Crusader career just 60 yards shy of the 6,000 yard mark... making him the all-time leading rusher in L-L League history (and third-most all-time in District 3).

Clay also had official offers from Duquesne, Towson, Old Dominion and UMass.

Gale resigned from the position last August after he accepted a job as an assistant principal at Emmaus High School.

Athlete of the Week: Sean Titus

Crusader safety, Sean Titus, takes his team to the district semis, and is our Athlete of the Week

Lancaster Catholic's Sean Titus knows a few things about winning. The senior standout helped his team win the PIAA AA Football crown last year. This season, Titus continues to make his mark.

PennLive
Titus made some clutch plays on Friday night in Catholic High's 20-7 win over Cocalico in the District quarterfinals. He made two picks - the first a pick six (with a 98 yard race to the house); and the second, an interception in the last few minutes of the game to ice the win for the Crusaders.

With the win, Catholic now secures a date with the Crusaders of Bishop McDevitt this upcoming Friday in the District AAA semi-finals.

Local players help Syracuse field hockey reach NCAA Final Four

Cocalico grad Jordan Page and Warwick grad Alyssa Manley shine for an Orange squad that is headed to the Final Four for the second time in program history.

Cocalico's Jordan Page, Warwick's Alyssa Manley and Hempfield's Lauren Brooks are all part of the squad that beat Penn State on Sunday5-2 to take Syracuse into the Final Four.

Page is having a great tournament so far; scoring two goals against the Nittany Lions, making it three goals in two days for the sophomore.

Manley got an assist on Sunday, passing to Liz McInerney to make it 3-1 against PSU.

This is only the first time the Orange have ever won two games in the NCAA tournament away from home, and only the second time they've made it to the Final Four (the first was back in 2008).

Athlete of the Week: Roman Clay

Lancaster Catholic's Roman Clay is our Athlete of the Week after becoming the L-L League's all-time leading rusher on Friday night.

Clay tallied 327 yards in Lancaster Catholic's win over Hershey this Friday, passing Lebanon Catholic's Tommy Long. Clay's career total is 5,688... with at least one game (this Friday against Cocalico) to add to it.

Congrats to Roman (and his offensive lines, past and present!) for achieving the impressive feat.

Athlete of the Week: Ian Hanselman

Manheim Central's bruising running back Ian Hanselman is our Athlete of the Week.

One Manheim Central running back has been steamrolling through defensive lines the last two weeks. Ian Hanselman is a force to be reckoned with... rushing for 209 yards and two touchdowns against Solanco this past Friday.

In Week 9 against Conestoga Valley, he rushed for almost 150 yards and three TDs.

The junior is the Barons' leading rusher with just under 760 total yards and 11 trips to the endzone this season.

Hanselman and his Barons will look to use that ground attack this Friday against the Garden Spot Spartans in the District 3 Playoffs.
