With its focus on technique, Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a martial art that proves size does not matter. And for Ben Smith, this form of fighting is what makes him stronger.
Smith was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at 8 years old. The disease causes abdominal pain, vomiting and weight loss among other symptoms. And folks with Crohn's often say they feel like they have lost control; and Smith chose to gain back that control on the mats.
The 15 year old proving himself everyday as a competitor. At Lancaster Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Ephrata, he is known as the man with the golden touch - even winning a team competition all by himself.
